Hong Kong to host 94th INTERPOL General Assembly in 2026
Hong Kong will host the 94th INTERPOL General Assembly from November 30 to December 3, 2026. This marks the first time the assembly will be held in the city, an event expected to draw over 1,000 participants, including police chiefs, government officials, and INTERPOL leadership from 196 member states.
To support global law enforcement, the Hong Kong Police Force has a history of seconding officers to INTERPOL. Senior Superintendent Kong Hing-szun, currently with the Commercial Crime Bureau, previously served as the Liaison Officer for Asia and the South Pacific at the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore from 2016 to 2018. During her tenure, she promoted services such as ‘Red Notices’ and the I-24/7 communication system across 38 countries and two bureaus (Hong Kong and Macau).
Kong’s experience highlighted the diverse challenges faced by regional law enforcement, ranging from cybercrime in developed nations to piracy and environmental crimes in island nations. She noted that effective international cooperation relies on mutual understanding and consensus rather than imposing specific operational models. The upcoming assembly is viewed as a significant opportunity for Hong Kong to demonstrate its administrative capabilities and strengthen international security cooperation.
