Hong Kong TV Personality He Bo Dies of Liver Cancer

He Xuan, popularly known as "He Bo", a former TVB star of the programme “East Look West Look”, died on 27 July after being diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. The 77‑year‑old (reported as 79 in some sources) had spent his later years embroiled in a highly publicised dispute with his much‑younger partner Ye Xiuding, dubbed “new He Tai”. Their relationship sparked legal battles, accusations of fraud over HK$4.5 million of family savings and a period of severe depression and social isolation, which a judge later linked to his mental state.

In his final days He Bo recorded a farewell audio message requesting his five children to visit him in hospital, expressing a wish to “enjoy more time and reconcile as before”. He declined further treatment, received a baptism from a pastor, and passed away peacefully without intensive‑care support. The death marks the end of a saga that dominated Hong Kong’s media and online discussions for months.
