Hong Kong universities launch 2026/27 academic year

Hong Kong universities have commenced the 2026/27 academic year with several milestone events. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held its “Fire Up Your Year” orientation carnival to welcome over 8,000 new undergraduate and postgraduate students. Marking its 35th anniversary, HKUST reported a nearly 10% year-on-year increase in local JUPAS Band A applications and received approximately 30,000 non-JUPAS undergraduate applications from over 120 countries and regions.

Meanwhile, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) hosted an inaugural orientation dinner for its first Master of Business Administration (in Chinese) cohort. The program welcomed nearly 220 students. HSUHK’s School of Business noted it is the first private university business school in Hong Kong to receive AACSB International accreditation.
