Hong Kong University medical official joins HKUST

Leung Yu-hung, the former Associate Dean (Human Capital) at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) Faculty of Medicine, is joining the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to serve as Senior Associate Dean for the university's new medical school.

HKU Faculty of Medicine stated it respects Leung's personal decision. The faculty encouraged HKUST to adopt a strategy of recruiting international talent from overseas to reduce cutthroat competition among Hong Kong's three medical schools. HKU emphasized that such a global approach would allow each institution to leverage its unique strengths to advance medical, educational, and scientific research in the region.

Professor Poon Lit-man, a Professor of Public Health Virology, has succeeded Leung in the role of Associate Dean (Human Capital) at HKU.
