Hong Kong implements new tourism and cultural development strategies
Hong Kong has introduced new strategies to bolster its tourism, sports, and cultural sectors as part of its 2026-2030 Five-Year Plan. Chief Executive John Lee announced measures to establish the city as an international cultural exchange hub, including enriching tourism products and supporting the film industry through a new Support Unit for Non-local Film Productions. The Kai Tak Sports Park has already hosted over 170 major events, attracting 2.6 million spectators.
In the regional hospitality sector, Galaxy Macau has launched the Galaxy Resort App and the Galaxy Rewards membership programme to enhance digital guest experiences and personalized luxury services. Additionally, the resort is hosting an art exhibition by sculptor Gao Xiaowu titled ‘Dream Voyage’ at the Galaxy Promenade through November 17.
Furthering the business events landscape, FCM Travel is expanding its Meetings & Events (M&E) services into Hong Kong. This move follows a significant increase in the city’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector, which saw 2.51 million visitors in 2025.
