Hong Kong woman charged over 136 unlicensed dogs in Yuen Long

A woman in Hong Kong has been charged under the Rabies Regulation after authorities discovered 136 dogs suspected of being kept without valid licences at an animal shelter in Yuen Long. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) conducted a blitz inspection of the premises following complaints regarding the facility.

Under local regulations, all dogs over five months old must hold a valid licence, which requires renewal every three years. The AFCD noted that regular vaccinations and licence renewals are essential for animal health and public safety. The case is scheduled to be mentioned at Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts on September 2.
