Hong Kong's Tai Po district records two suicide deaths

On 6 May, two separate suicide incidents occurred in Tai Po, Hong Kong. A 30‑year‑old man surnamed Lai was found unconscious after falling from a high‑rise building and was pronounced dead at the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital. Police found no suicide note and are awaiting an autopsy.

Later that morning, a 31‑year‑old woman surnamed Li was discovered floating in the sea at Tai Po Waterfront Park. She had told her husband she was going for a walk before the incident. She was rescued but died despite emergency treatment at Tai Po Nethersole Hospital. Police consider the death a suicide linked to her known emotional illness. Both cases are being investigated by the Tai Po police district, and mental‑health hotlines were publicised in the reports.
