Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee win multiple awards at Locarno Film Festival

Director Hong Sang-soo and actress Kim Min-hee secured multiple awards at the 79th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland for their film, ‘Nowhere to Lay My Eyes’ (Nun Dul Dega Eomne).

Hong was honored with the Best Director award and the Ecumenical Jury Prize. Kim Min-hee shared the Best Performance award with Italian actress Monica Bellucci. The film, which marks Hong’s 35th feature, follows a woman named Sang-hee as she travels to Jeju Island to reunite with her mother after ten years.

The festival also awarded the top prize, the Golden Leopard, to the Romanian film ‘You Don’t Belong Here’ directed by Florin Șerban. This appearance at Locarno marks the fifth time Hong has been invited to the festival, where he has previously won major honors including the Golden Leopard in 2015.
