Hoàng Thùy Linh faces controversy following new music video release
Vietnamese singer Hoàng Thùy Linh has released her new music video, “Thầy Dùi,” marking her first comeback in four years. The project, a collaboration with songwriter Khắc Hưng and fashion director Hoàng Ku, aims to blend contemporary music with Vietnamese cultural elements.
Following the release, the project has faced mixed reactions. While many fans praise the unique fusion of folk materials and modern sounds, others have criticized the music video for being visually overwhelming or feeling like a step backward due to its use of AI and cluttered imagery.
Additionally, the project has encountered controversy regarding its fashion choices. The Swiss brand Omar Amor publicly accused stylist Hoàng Ku of plagiarism on social media, claiming that a specific earphone-themed crop top used in the video was not an original design. The brand urged the stylist to “book the original design” in the future.
