Hyundai expands electric vehicle lineup with Ioniq V in China

Hyundai is expanding its electric vehicle presence in China with several new models, most notably the Ioniq V. Designed specifically for the Chinese market, the Ioniq V is a 4.9-meter long sedan that prioritizes aerodynamics and efficiency over massive battery capacity. It features a smaller LFP battery (up to 66.8 kWh) to maintain a competitive price point, with starting prices estimated between 119,900 and 139,900 yuan (approximately €15,270 to €17,820).

The Ioniq V offers a futuristic interior equipped with a 27-inch 4K panoramic display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. It aims to achieve a range of over 550 km under the CLTC cycle. This strategy contrasts with some competitors who focus on larger battery packs, as Hyundai seeks to offer high-tech features at an affordable price.

Other notable developments in the Hyundai lineup include the Ioniq 3, a compact crossover built on the E-GMP platform, and the high-performance IONIQ 6 N, which features simulated gear shifts and enhanced driving dynamics. Additionally, Kia is updating its portfolio with the 2026 facelift of the Stonic and Sportage models, and testing the EV4 GT Fastback, which includes simulated engine sounds and virtual gear changes to enhance driver engagement.
