Hongqi debuts in Italy with SUV models at Torino Motor Show

The Chinese luxury automotive brand Hongqi is making its debut in the Italian market at the Torino Motor Show. Distributed exclusively by the Brescia-based EMC Auto, the brand will launch with two SUV models: the HS3 (a C-segment SUV) and the HS5 (a D-segment SUV).

Unlike many recent Chinese entrants focusing on electric or plug-in vehicles, these initial models feature internal combustion engines. The HS3 is equipped with a 1.5 TGDI engine producing 156 CV, while the HS5 features a 2.0 TGDI engine with 245 CV, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and standard all-wheel drive.

Founded in 1958 as part of the FAW Group, Hongqi has a historical legacy as the manufacturer of official vehicles for Chinese state leaders. The brand is part of FAW, which reported selling approximately 3.3 million vehicles in 2025. EMC Auto plans to establish a network of approximately fifteen dealerships, primarily concentrated in Central and Northern Italy, to support the brand's premium positioning.
