Hongseong Global BBQ Festival to launch October 29

The 2026 Hongseong Global BBQ Festival is scheduled to take place from October 29 to November 1 in the Hongju Fortress area. To prepare for the event, the Hongju Cultural Tourism Foundation held a preview event on October 11, showcasing unique barbecue tools, including a 5.4-meter tall device modeled after the Hongseong Sky Tower capable of cooking 1,000 servings of Hanwoo beef kebabs at once.

In conjunction with the festival, a national culinary competition will be held to discover new food content using Hongseong’s local ingredients, such as Hanwoo beef, Handon pork, Gwangcheon seaweed, and Hongseong garlic. Organized by the Cheongwoon University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the competition invites teams of three to develop menus suitable for commercialization. The finals will take place on October 29 at the festival site, with a total prize pool of 6.6 million won. The festival will also feature various local events, including the Hongseong Love Chrysanthemum Festival and night markets.
