Hongseong pig farm fire kills 544 pigs

A fire broke out at a pig farm in Gwangcheon-eup, Hongseong-gun, Chungnam, on the afternoon of the 9th. The blaze, which lasted approximately 34 minutes to extinguish, destroyed one warehouse, two pig pens, and two passenger vehicles.

While no human casualties were reported, the fire resulted in the death of 544 pigs, including 44 sows and 500 piglets. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation by fire authorities, though it is suspected that the flames spread rapidly due to the proximity of multiple facilities and flammable materials within the livestock complex.
