Honiara International Port undergoes major wharf expansion

Major construction is underway at Honiara International Port to upgrade and extend International Berth 1 Wharf. The project involves driving large steel pipe piles into the seabed to create a resilient foundation capable of supporting heavy cargo operations and resisting challenging sea conditions.

The works are being carried out by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) as part of the Land and Maritime Connectivity Project (LMCP). This initiative is implemented by the Solomon Islands Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) to modernize the nation's transport infrastructure and enhance national connectivity and climate resilience.
