Honk Mobile settles class-action lawsuit over undisclosed fees

Honk Mobile Inc. has settled a Canada-wide class-action lawsuit regarding allegations of undisclosed service fees. The lawsuit, led by plaintiff Tyson Larence, alleged that the parking app engaged in ‘drip pricing’ by failing to disclose fees in the initial price and adding them later in the purchasing process between June 2022 and July 2024.

B.C. Supreme Court Justice Shannon P. Ramsay approved the settlement, finding it reasonable despite the small individual payouts. Under the agreement, Honk Mobile will provide settlement benefits totaling $463,120, with $347,340 designated to fund a $0.35 credit for each class member. Honk Mobile denied all allegations of wrongdoing and liability as part of the settlement.

Class members will receive their credit via an individualized promotional code, which must be used by December 31, 2027. There will be no formal claims process required for the distribution.
