Honor Huff enters transfer portal amid legal battle for eligibility

Former West Virginia University basketball guard Honor Huff has entered the transfer portal as he seeks a fifth year of collegiate eligibility. Huff has filed a legal complaint in Monongalia County Circuit Court against the NCAA, seeking relief from what he describes as “arbitrary and capricious decisions” that prevent him from participating in college sports.

The legal action follows recent NCAA rulings regarding other players, such as Javan Buchanan and Brenen Lorient. Huff, who previously transferred from VMI to Chattanooga and sat out a year due to conference transfer rules, has a court hearing scheduled for next week. A preliminary injunction could potentially allow him to play elsewhere.

West Virginia head coach Ross Hodge expressed support for Huff but noted that the team's roster is currently full. During a press conference, Hodge stated that while he supports the player, discussing the possibility of a return would be premature and hypothetical.
