Honor of Kings suspends university authentication amid illegal trading reports

Tencent has temporarily disabled the university authentication feature in the game Honor of Kings following reports of unauthorized trading on secondary markets. Users had reported that authentication credentials for various institutions were being sold, with prices for prestigious universities reaching over 2,000 yuan.

To facilitate these illegal transactions, sellers were reportedly using screenshots from the CHSI (China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center) database as proof of student status. This practice posed significant risks to user privacy and account security, as buyers often required access to the user's account to bind real student information.

Tencent customer service stated that the testing phase for the university channel and authentication functions has officially ended, leading to the current suspension of the feature. The company advised players to avoid non-official platforms to prevent financial loss and identity theft, noting that any future updates regarding the feature will be communicated through official in-game announcements and official social media channels.
