Honor readies 200‑MP smartphone camera sensor for next flagship

Honor is evaluating the OVB0D 200‑megapixel image sensor, built on a 22 nm process with a 1/1.1" format, Dual Conversion Gain and LOFIC technology that promise better low‑light performance and dynamic range. The company has not confirmed whether the sensor will appear in the upcoming Magic 9 series or another high‑end model, but its development could shift the brand’s camera strategy toward much higher resolution and reduced reliance on aggressive software processing.

Separately, Honor has launched the Magic 8 Pro in China, featuring a 200‑MP periscope telephoto module, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, up to 12 GB RAM, a 6.71‑inch LTPO OLED display and a 7 000 mAh battery with fast wireless charging. The device also offers AI‑dedicated buttons, IP68/IP69K water resistance and a six‑camera setup that includes a 50‑MP main sensor and a 64‑MP telephoto lens, targeting premium smartphone buyers.
