Honor reveals proprietary shotgun microphone system in Magic9 Pro Max

Honor engineers have revealed that the small opening near the camera module on the Magic9 Pro Max smartphone houses a proprietary shotgun microphone system. This industry-first technology utilizes a high-directionality microphone combined with a dual-sound pipe design, which includes the camera module opening and a shared top microphone port.

The system works alongside three omnidirectional microphones to create a hybrid microphone array designed to achieve audio quality comparable to professional film sets. To accommodate various filming needs, the device features preset audio modes such as standard, long-distance, macro, and voice enhancement.

Users can also adjust audio settings post-capture through an “original sound beautification” feature in the photo album, allowing for adjustments to macro, voice, or long-distance effects after a video has been recorded. Additionally, the software allows for personalized configuration of custom audio modes.
