Honorary Heart of Sarajevo awarded to Emir Hadžihafizbegović and Woody Harrelson
Bosnian actor Emir Hadžihafizbegović was honored with the Počasno srce Sarajeva (Honorary Heart of Sarajevo) at the Sarajevo Film Festival. He accepted the award during a break after a performance in Opatija, noting that it coincided with the 40th anniversary of his graduation and early stage roles, and he dedicated the recognition to his former classmates from the Academy of Performing Arts.
American actor Woody Harrelson will also receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo at the 32nd edition of the festival. Festival director Jovan Marjanović praised Harrelson’s extensive film, television and theatre career, citing his Oscar nominations and recent projects such as the Netflix film “The Cackling of the Dodos.” The award will be presented during a screening of Michael Winterbottom’s 1997 film “Welcome to Sarajevo,” which features Harrelson in a leading role.
Both recipients are being celebrated for their long‑standing contributions to cinema and for enhancing the international profile of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
