Hoogland to receive dementia-friendly village certification

The village of Hoogland will officially receive the ‘Dementia-Friendly Village’ certificate on October 14, 2026. The designation, granted by Stichting Alzheimer Nederland, follows community-wide efforts to improve support and understanding for residents living with dementia.

Many local residents, businesses, and organizations participated in the ‘Dealing well with dementia’ training program. Six organizations have already received individual dementia-friendly certificates, including De Neng, Gall&Gall, Fysio Hoogland, Tankstations Kreijne, Ilona’s Haarsalon, and Kapsalon Trudy. Other groups, such as the Hoogland Tennis Club, ETOS, and local religious communities, have completed the training and are eligible for certification. Volunteers, including those from the local First Aid (EHBO) group, also participated in the initiative.
