Hoogwaterbrigade conducts flood defense drills in Zwolle

Volunteers from the Hoogwaterbrigade are conducting annual flood defense exercises along the Zwarte Water in Zwolle. The drill involves closing five openings, known as coupures, in the dikes at the Rieteweg and Industrieweg using aluminum stop logs.

Organized by the water board WDODelta, the exercise ensures that approximately 270 volunteers can follow strict protocols to secure the water barrier quickly during high-water threats. Simultaneously, the brigade is practicing the assembly and disassembly of a nearly two-kilometer-long mobile water barrier in Kampen.
