Hook Norton Brewery unveils Old Hooky Zero and Sun Drift Pale Ale

Hook Norton Brewery has introduced Old Hooky Zero, its first zero‑alcohol and gluten‑free ale. The drink is brewed from the original 1977 Old Hooky recipe, uses English Fuggles, Goldings and Challenger hops, and celebrates the flagship’s upcoming 50th anniversary. Managing Director James Clarke said the new brew proves that “you can teach an old dog new tricks” and allows more drinkers to enjoy the classic taste without alcohol.

In a separate launch, Hook Norton partnered with fellow independent brewer Oakham Ales to create Sun Drift Pale Ale, a 4.1% summer‑style cask ale. The beer is brewed with Belma hops, delivering citrus, tropical fruit and strawberry notes balanced by a biscuit sweetness. Production Manager Andy Thomas and Oakham Head Brewer Ed Sharman highlighted the collaboration and the use of the traditional Victorian brewing kit. Sun Drift will be sold on cask at both breweries’ taprooms and selected local pubs.
