Hooters: The Movie restaurant origin story independent film biopic buddy comedy

An independent film titled ‘Hooters: The Movie’ is in development, chronicling the origin story of the American restaurant chain. The project is being produced by the company’s original founding partners.

Directed by Jon Rosenbaum and written by Ed Droste, Phil Olson, and Chuck Melcher, the film is described as a blend of buddy comedy and biopic. The narrative follows two lifelong friends from Iowa, Ted and Lenny, whose road trip to Clearwater Beach, Florida, leads to the accidental creation of a national restaurant empire. The plot also involves the recruitment of Diane, who would become the first ‘Hooters Girl’, and a conflict where the founders' business is threatened by the federal government.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin in November, primarily in the Tampa and Clearwater areas of Florida. Casting is currently underway, led by directors Lisa London and Catherine Stroud.
