Hooters founders announce biopic about restaurant chain origins

The founding partners of the Hooters restaurant chain have announced a new film titled ‘Hooters: The Movie’. The production is based on the real-life events surrounding the establishment of the national restaurant empire.

The plot will reportedly follow lifelong friends Ted and Lenny, two residents of a small Iowa town, as they embark on a road trip to Clearwater Beach, Florida. The story centers on Ted’s pursuit of Diane, a woman he saw in a spring break commercial, who would eventually become the first ‘Hooters Girl’. The narrative also touches upon the founders facing challenges from the federal government.

Ed Droste, one of the Hooters founders, is serving as a producer and co-writer for the project. He stated that the film aims to capture the drama, heart, and fun of their experience, noting that the ‘Hooters Girls’ will be central to the film.
