Hoothanes reveals trailer for WWII shooter The Defiant

Developer Hoothanes has released a new trailer for its upcoming high-intensity shooter, The Defiant. Set during the Second World War, the game focuses on the Eastern Front and China’s War of Resistance.

The narrative follows soldiers from the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army stationed in the snowy forests of Northeast China. Players will navigate heavily fortified streets and alleys in occupied towns, experiencing an atmosphere described as sombre and volatile. The gameplay features era-appropriate weaponry, including the Hanyang 88 rifle, the Mauser C96, and the SIG Bergmann Model 1920.

In addition to combat, players must contend with searchlights used by incumbent powers to detect aggression. The game aims to present a collective memory through various interconnected stories. The Defiant is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, though no release date has been announced.
