Hope Border Institute and El Paso Diocese expand Border Refugee Assistance Fund

The Hope Border Institute and the Diocese of El Paso announced an expansion of the Border Refugee Assistance Fund to provide additional humanitarian aid for migrants and asylum seekers in Ciudad Juárez. The program, launched amid intensified border enforcement and reduced asylum access, will deliver emergency shelter, health care, mental‑health services and transportation for people displaced by violence and increased deportations.

The effort partners with Derechos Humanos Integrales en Acción (DHIA) and the Jesuit Refugee Service Mexico, and is coordinated by executive director Dylan Corbett, who said the collaboration “is essential at a time when the border is closed to asylum seekers and deportations are intensifying.” Bishop Mark Seitz of the El Paso Diocese stressed that “partnership is not a luxury in times like these; it is a necessity,” highlighting the binational solidarity needed to address the growing humanitarian gap.
