Hopi Pulse research reveals consumer spending patterns in Turkey

The first results of the Hopi Pulse research, conducted among 1,500 users in August 2026, reveal significant disparities in how consumers manage their monthly salaries in Turkey. The study, which uses Türk-İş poverty limits as a reference for income segments, shows that 88% of participants prioritize mandatory expenses immediately upon receiving their salary, with 71% focusing on rent, bills, and credit payments, and 17% on basic necessities like groceries.

Spending patterns show a stark divide: 25% of respondents report that their salary is exhausted within the first seven days, while 24% claim to have unspent funds remaining at the end of the month. Investment and savings remain low, with only 8% of participants able to allocate a portion of their income to savings or investments initially. Among the 18-25 age demographic, 70% also prioritize regular payments and basic needs immediately after payday.
