Horacio Rodríguez Larreta seeks return to Buenos Aires governorship
Former Buenos Aires Chief of Government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta has reaffirmed his intention to run for the city's leadership again. During meetings in Villa del Parque, Larreta addressed several infrastructure and urban planning proposals for the region.
To improve transit and connectivity, Larreta advocated for the undergrounding of the San Martín Railway via a sunken trench rather than elevated viaducts. He stated this approach would eliminate level crossings and create new parklands along the railway route. While he noted that the proposed 'Line G' subway connecting Villa del Parque to Retiro is currently unfeasible due to international credit costs, he did not rule out the project for the future.
Regarding urban green spaces, Larreta proposed negotiated purchases of private land to address deficits in areas like Villa Santa Rita, rather than compulsory expropriations. He also discussed the Devoto prison relocation to Marcos Paz, noting that the project—which was 70% complete during his administration before being halted by the national government—is designed to allocate 65% of the site to public green space and 35% to private development.
