Horácká multifunkční aréna replaces Jihlava's old winter stadium

The Horácká multifunkční aréna (HMA) in Jihlava, a new multifunctional facility costing approximately two billion CZK, has replaced the city's aging 60-year-old winter stadium. The new arena serves sports, cultural, and social events.

Installation of donor nameplates on the arena's facade began on August 24. The project involves over 850 donors who participated in a panel adoption program that raised nearly 2.5 million CZK. Construction official David Beke apologized for delays in the installation, citing complexities such as typos, character limit issues, and the need to accommodate special symbols like hearts and crosses that were not in the standard character set.

The decision to build a new arena rather than renovate the old stadium followed years of deliberation regarding the technical failures of the previous structure, including issues with the roof, cooling, and technical installations. The project was finalized after an architectural competition won by the studio CHYBIK + KRISTOF.
