HORI and Hino Motors announce professional driving simulators

Device manufacturer HORI has announced the development of professional-grade driving simulators in collaboration with Hino Motors. The product line includes the ‘JAPAN TRUCK DRIVING SIMULATOR’ for heavy vehicles and the ‘JAPAN DRIVER TRAINING SIMULATOR’ for standard passenger cars.

Designed to provide realistic training without the need for physical vehicles or dedicated tracks, the simulators feature three-screen setups that replicate driver cockpits, as well as laptop-compatible versions. The systems aim to accurately reproduce vehicle behaviors such as inner-wheel differences and overhangs. Key features include a replay function for post-training review, an around-view window, and a ranking system based on accuracy and time.

The project was prompted by the expansion of the automotive transport sector to include more foreign skilled workers. To ensure educational accuracy, Hino Motors provided vehicle data and engine sound sampling, while Hanyu Motor School and the startup Tetra Shift assisted with curriculum supervision. The simulators will be showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
