Horizon Air pilots and flight attendants picket over contract disputes
Horizon Air pilots and flight attendants held informational pickets on October 14, 2026, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Boise Airport to protest ongoing contract negotiations. The demonstrations were organized by Teamsters Local 1224, representing approximately 650 pilots, and the Association of Flight Attendants.
Union representatives accused Horizon Air and its parent company, Alaska Air Group, of “corporate greed” and using delay tactics to avoid reaching a fair collective bargaining agreement. Pilots claim they have been fighting for nearly four years for a contract that addresses wages, staffing, and training shortages. They noted that while they perform similar flight duties to those at sister carrier Alaska Airlines, their wages remain below industry standards and have not seen a raise in three years.
Captain Henry Simkins, Chair of Local 1224’s Horizon Executive Council, stated that the company’s tendency to stall negotiations could eventually impact public safety. Alaska Air Group has not yet issued a response to the demonstrations.
