Horizon Airways orders second Tecnam P2012 STOL aircraft

Horizon Airways has ordered a second Tecnam P2012 STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) aircraft, scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026. This order follows the airline's initial introduction of the P2012 STOL in Australia.

Based in Queensland, Horizon Airways intends to use the new aircraft to modernize its fleet, replacing older models from the 1970s. The P2012 STOL is specifically chosen for its ability to operate on short runways, which is essential for servicing remote island communities in the Torres Strait and Cape regions, such as the Mabuiag, Darnley, and Murray Islands.

CEO Ed Morrison stated that the second aircraft will allow the airline to meet growing demand and double its modern operational capabilities. The new fleet will feature twin-engine safety, air-conditioned cabins, and nine ergonomic passenger seats.
