Horizon of Khufu VR experience expands global presence
The immersive virtual reality experience ‘Horizon of Khufu: Journey in Ancient Egypt’ is expanding its global reach. Following its launch in Paris, the attraction has already welcomed millions of spectators worldwide.
Set in 2500 BC, the 45-minute expedition allows participants to explore the Giza Plateau and the Great Pyramid of Khufu using VR headsets. The journey includes a virtual flight over the plateau, a 360-degree view from the pyramid's summit, and access to internal corridors and burial chambers that are typically inaccessible to the public. The experience also features reconstructed scenes of ancient Egyptian funerary rituals and a boat trip along the Nile.
To ensure historical and scientific accuracy, the project was developed in collaboration with experts, including Peter Der Manuelian, a professor of Egyptology at Harvard University. The reconstruction utilizes research and data from the Giza Project at Harvard to maintain fidelity to recent archaeological findings. The experience is produced by Emissive under its Excurio brand.
