Horizon Sans Frontières appeals for help to repatriate Idrissa Sow from Spain
Boubacar Sèye, president of the organization Horizon Sans Frontières (HSF), has issued a formal appeal to Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to assist the family of Idrissa Sow. Sow, a 50-year-old Senegalese national, passed away on August 17, 2026, in Úbeda, Spain, where he had resided for approximately three and a half years.
Sow's family, located in Dakar Bango within the Saint-Louis region, is reportedly facing significant financial difficulties in organizing the repatriation of his remains. HSF is calling for national solidarity and requesting that the Senegalese government provide assistance to ensure Sow can be buried in his homeland with dignity.
In addition to the appeal to the presidency, HSF has called upon the Senegalese diaspora in Spain, including community associations and religious groups, to mobilize and support the family with the necessary costs and procedures for the repatriation.
