Horizontal Property Law permits parking space railings following neighbor dispute
A viral social media story has highlighted a dispute between neighbors regarding parking space boundaries and property rights. After one driver accidentally scratched a neighbor's car and left a note to settle the matter through insurance, the other neighbor responded by filing a police report and installing a metal railing to prevent the vehicles from touching again.
The installation of the railing has reportedly made it difficult for the first driver to open their car door. Legal experts and the Horizontal Property Law suggest that owners may modify their allocated spaces with installations like railings, provided these changes do not compromise the building's structural security, exterior appearance, or the rights of other owners. Such modifications must be reported to the community representative.
