Hormonal health trends address changes in men and women
Recent discussions regarding hormonal and mental health have highlighted the physiological changes affecting both men and women. In men, the phenomenon known as Irritable Male Syndrome (IMS) describes a cluster of emotional and physical symptoms, such as irritability, mood swings, lack of motivation, and fatigue. While not an official medical diagnosis, IMS is linked to the gradual decline of testosterone, often occurring after age 40. Dr. Justin Houman of Cedars-Sinai notes that testosterone levels typically peak in the late teens and early twenties before declining by approximately one percent annually after age 40.
Simultaneously, the dm Back to Yourself retreat in Zlatibor gathered over 200 women to address similar themes of hormonal and mental well-being. The event featured experts discussing hormonal changes, emotional shifts, and the pressures of daily life. The initiative aims to provide women with a space to access reliable health information and focus on self-care, with future sessions planned for Fruška Gora.
