Hornbill Festival celebrates Western Ghats ecosystem in Karnataka

The Hornbill Festival in the Dandeli and Joida regions of northern Karnataka celebrates the hornbill bird and the broader ecosystem of the Western Ghats. Organized by the Haliyal Forest Division in association with the Kali Tiger Reserve and the Karnataka Forest Department, the event aims to promote birdwatching, conservation awareness, and nature-based tourism.

Set within the diverse forest landscapes of the Kali Tiger Reserve, which includes the Dandeli and Anshi protected areas, the festival brings together conservationists, photographers, local communities, and travelers to engage with the region's moist deciduous and evergreen forests.
