Hornsby Shire Council secures funding for night-time economy
Hornsby Shire Council has secured $50,000 in funding from the NSW Government to investigate Purple Flag accreditation for the Hornsby Town Centre. The grant, provided through the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner’s Purple Flag Readiness Grant Program, aims to enhance the area's evening economy by focusing on governance, safety, accessibility, diversity, and visitor experience.
This initiative complements existing efforts to revitalize the town centre, including a Special Entertainment Precinct trial supported by a previous $200,000 grant. Mayor Warren Waddell stated that the funding builds on the Hornsby Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Hornsby After Dark’ project and will help foster partnerships between businesses and community representatives to create a more vibrant and well-managed destination.
