Horror cinema trends see rise in liminal horror and slasher collaborations

The horror film genre is seeing new developments through emerging sub-genres and high-profile collaborations. Director Alexander Ullom is releasing ‘It Ends’ via Neon, a film categorized within the rising ‘liminal horror’ trend. The story follows four friends trapped on an endless forest road, serving as an allegory for the uncertainty and lack of purpose often felt by young adults.

In the slasher sub-genre, horror icons Danielle Harris and Scout Taylor-Compton are collaborating on a new project titled ‘Last Chance Motel’. The film, described as violent and disturbing, follows a newlywed couple targeted at a remote desert hotel. Joining the production is Heather Langenkamp, known for her role in the ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ franchise.
