Horror video games see high user ratings and major upcoming releases
The horror video game genre is seeing significant activity with several high-profile releases and upcoming titles scheduled for 2026 and 2027. On the PlayStation 5, two new titles, ‘Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival’ and ‘Silver Pines’, have achieved near-perfect user review scores on the PlayStation Store.
‘Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival’, developed by Boss Team Games and published by Saber Interactive, is a first-person survival horror game based on the 1980s franchise. It follows a character named Aidan attempting to rescue his girlfriend from a hellscape known as the Labyrinth using a puzzle box. ‘Silver Pines’, a Metroidvania-style survival horror game from developer Wych Elm, has also received strong critical and consumer acclaim.
Looking further ahead, the horror lineup for late 2026 and 2027 includes a variety of genres such as psychological thrillers, sci-fi adventures, and remakes. Notable upcoming titles include ‘Until Dawn 2’, ‘Resident Evil Veronica’, ‘Silent Hill 1 Remake’, and an experimental project titled ‘OD’ involving Hideo Kojima. Other anticipated releases include ‘Grave Seasons’, ‘Alien Deathstorm’, and ‘ONYX: The Dark Grip’, which is designed for the Nintendo Switch 2.
