Horse racing updates: US breeding declines and Ka Ying Rising targets Everest Stakes

In the United States, the American Thoroughbred Breeders Association reported that 16,500 foals are expected to be born in 2027, a decrease of approximately 500 from 2026. The report indicates a continuing decline in the number of stallions and mating instances, potentially due to the collapse of local breeding industries in certain states and a centralization of the industry in Kentucky. Sierra Leone, the 2024 Breeders' Cup Classic winner, led the mating statistics with 293 mares.

In Australia, trainer David Hayes expressed confidence in Ka Ying Rising ahead of the Everest Stakes at Randwick Racecourse. Despite drawing the 11th barrier, Hayes believes the horse's speed will allow it to navigate the field effectively. However, he noted concerns regarding potential heavy track conditions following recent rainfall.

In other racing news, the Australian racing official disqualified the horse Alligator Blood from its 2020 Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Race victory due to rule violations, reinstating Eleven Eleven as the winner.
