Horse runs several kilometers on A2 Autobahn near Oelde

A horse escaped from a paddock near Oelde in Westphalia and ran several kilometers along the A2 Autobahn. The animal, which was traveling without a saddle or halter, was spotted on the oncoming lanes toward Hannover.

To prevent further danger, a truck driver blocked the oncoming traffic by positioning his vehicle across the road. Police officers eventually secured the frightened animal with a leash and led it off the highway. A veterinarian administered a sedative before the owner arrived with a trailer to collect the horse. No injuries were reported to the animal or any motorists, and the highway was reopened approximately 70 minutes after the incident was reported.
