Horsens Mayor Pushes for New Cable and Generator after Endelave Power Outages
Endelave island experienced hours‑long power outages on a Sunday, marking the second such incident in July. Residents demanded more than a repaired link to the mainland; they called for a completely new electricity cable and a permanent on‑island generator.
Horsens mayor Peter Sørensen said electricity provider Konstant is obliged to deliver stable power and affirmed he will hold the firm accountable. He plans to meet with Konstant and the local residents’ association to discuss solutions. Konstant reported that the existing cable is being tested and that power from the generator should be restored by Wednesday. Former head of the Endelave residents’ association, Karsten Kragh Hansen, expressed concern about the risk of the ferry and generator arriving simultaneously, while the mayor suggested businesses consider their own backup generators.
