Horses slip and fall during traditional procession in Sinj

Two horses pulling a carriage slipped and fell on slippery streets in the center of Sinj during a traditional procession. Video footage showed one horse falling followed by the second, leaving both animals lying in their harnesses on the slippery surface. Bystanders attempted to assist the animals in standing up.

Controversy arose when the same horses were seen harnessed to the same carriage participating in the Sinjska Alka procession only a few hours after the incident. It remains unclear whether the horses received veterinary examinations or if any injuries were sustained following the fall.

The incident has sparked debate on social media, with many expressing concern over the welfare of the animals and questioning why they were put back to work so soon after the fall, especially considering the difficulty shod horses face on stone and concrete surfaces.
