Horseshoe beach knife threats lead to charges

A man identified as Redman has been charged following a knife incident at Horseshoe beach. On August 12, paddle skiers Mat Egan and Mark Breasley were threatened by the individual while walking toward a bush track near the boat sheds. According to police statements, Redman yelled threats, including “I will f---ing stab you,” causing the pair to retreat into the water.

Court documents indicate a pattern of recent antisocial behaviour. Days prior to the beach incident, Redman reportedly approached a bus driver while holding a sharpened tent peg. Additionally, in May, he was involved in an incident at the Queens Wharf Hotel where he allegedly lunged at a patron.

Police located a man matching the description at a nearby tent with a knife. While the individual denied the allegations, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant and subsequently charged regarding the Horseshoe beach encounter. The victims have since called for improved safety measures at the beach.
