Horsham Army Cadets commemorate Battle of Beersheba

The 316 Army Cadet Unit in Horsham visited the local RSL sub-branch on Tuesday, October 27, to view memorabilia and hear from guest speakers. The visit served as a precursor to Remembrance Day and coincided with events marking the 109th anniversary of the Battle of Beersheba.

During the session, cadets heard from RSL historian Sally Bertram and former Merchant Navy Officer Dave Lloyd. Discussions focused on the 4th Light Horse Brigade and its role in the Battle of Beersheba, a significant turning point in the Middle Eastern theatre of the First World War. Lieutenant Kylie Speirs noted the visit aimed to provide cadets with a better understanding of the Australian Defence Force's involvement in overseas conflicts.
