Horsham to host ‘Stories that Stir’ storytelling event

Six storytellers from the Wimmera region are scheduled to share personal accounts of resilience and adversity at the upcoming ‘Stories that Stir’ event in Horsham next month.

Organiser Sally Pymer noted that the event provides a platform for local community members to share untold stories, aiming to reduce isolation and challenge social assumptions. Founded in February 2022 by Monica Rosenfeld and Joram van der Starre, the initiative has hosted over 80 events with more than 450 unique storytellers to date.

Featured speakers include Leigh-Anne Sharland, who will discuss navigating life after a neurological collapse, and Sally Pymer, who will recount overcoming a permanent lung obstruction to complete an 87-kilometre ultramarathon. Other participants include Stacey Ellis, who will speak on rebuilding her life after significant personal struggles.
