Horst Lichter identifies rare antique egg scale on ZDF

During a Monday episode of the ZDF program ‘Bares für Rares’, host Horst Lichter surprised expert Sven Deutschmanek by immediately recognizing a rare antique: an egg sorting scale.

The scale, manufactured by Hartner, was designed to sort eggs by size and weight to facilitate pricing. The specific item presented dates back to 1964 and was originally part of a household in Solingen. While Deutschmanek noted that such an object is rarely seen, Lichter expressed familiarity with it from farm shops.

The antique scale is currently missing its test weight.
