Hortência leads FIBA vote for greatest World Cup player

Former Brazilian basketball star Hortência Marcari is leading a popular vote organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to elect the greatest player in the history of the World Cups. She is the only Brazilian representative among the nine nominees.

Hortência's career highlights include a world title with the Brazilian national team in 1994 and an Olympic silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Games. She holds the record for the highest scoring average in a single World Cup, set in 1990 with 31.5 points per game.

In a previous FIBA vote held in 2018, Hortência won the award with 85% of the votes. The current list of nominees includes legends from the United States, Australia, and Latvia.
